What is a marketing campaign?

I was assigned to come up with a marketing campaign. Does this mean to come up with ideas, or actually make the newsletters, emails, etc.? Please help!! THANKS!!!

    generally when you are creating a marketing campagin you would be doing the ideas side of things but at the same time i would be explaing what media you are going to use. Eg when i do a campagin i ahve to come up with the ideas but also i need to have who im going to get to do the email /dm/posters etc and i wil generally have a mock up of what i want to send.
