Is it still possible for Hillary to win the Democratic nomination, or is her campaign mortally wounded?

by admin on Feb.04, 2010, under Elections

I am not a Clinton fan, however, I have never underestimated her resolve or determination to become President at all costs. Even though she is currently behind in the delegate count and the popular vote among democrat voters she still controls the machinery of the Democrat Party. Until recently I believed she would use this leverage to win the nomination. With her recent gaff over her trip to Bosnia and now several leaders in the Democrat party calling for her to end her campaign for the sake of party unity, is her campaign doomed, or will she continue to fight to the bitter end regardless of the cost?

I usually agree with your article content, but in this case I am sorry to say that I do not share your views.

She has more balls- she won’t give up the fight.

  • italienne the suspended

    Death throes.

  • Kit Fang

if she was going to give up she would have do so before now…
she’s come this far, i don’t see her leaving the race until it ends

  • Sheryl B

Well its this way. If they do not count Florida and Michigan and let her win fairly. McCain is your next president. Plain and Simple.

  • Canadian Beachbum

AT best she is on life support or she have had the last rights read to her, its over!!!!

  • Agent Fox

She was “encouraged to drop out of the race”

  • Don H

My bet she will continue to fight on, even though there is no chance (about 5%) of winning.

Hopefully after she loses NC and it’s a wash between pa. delegates and the super delegates step in, she will end it.

  • jdw

Ten more primaries left and superdelegates waiting in the wings. Plus there is a chance that the other guy will ***** up again. She’ s got plenty of chances left.

  • taylor

of course she will win 44% of democrats who were previously going to vote for obama wont anymore thanks to our freind jeremiah wright ( sarcasm).

  • Amber

Her campaign is over. The only way she could possibly get the nomination is if Obama’s campaign implodes. I don’t see that happening since the most damaging thing that’s happened to his campaign was the Pastor Wright story and he seemed to weather that storm.

  • Percy

Don’t you see Barack as determined at all costs? He is willing to disenfranchise voters for his own ambition.

  • rebshel

ding dong the wicked witch is dead

  • JustMe

She will fight to the end, its the Clinton way and this isnt over till its over

Wake Up and stop watching TV.
    It distorts REALITY.

Hillary CLointon is ahead in popular and delegates once the count MI and FL.

She has won EVERY major state a Dem needs to win except IL due to Oprah.

She has the momentum and won the last two MAJOR states TX & OH.

Obama and media released the Wright tapes now to distract fromt he fact that he has lost his NEWNESS and people are voting on issues.

He is trying to pull and OJ on race and a BUSH on FL and MI to even stay in this race.

People of America are behind Clinton and media and nobody else can stop us now.

President Hillary Clinton is our next president.

Thank you Madam President for stand up for all of us!

We are behind you all the way to the white house.

    God “BLESS” America
We will have democracy in USA not mediacrocy!!!

It’s up to the super delegates to decide who gets it and they’re obliged to vote however they want, according to the RULES. Remember the rules? Obama supporters are big on them when it comes to Michigan and Florida — not so big when it comes to the supers.

she will stay in, to the detriment of her party and to the nation. Sadly, she is putting her political ambition ahead of what is best for her country. Technically, yes, she could get the nomination, but at the risk of destroying the democratic party. Obama has earned the nomination; hillary has not, regardless of what she says/thinks.

The media is keeping her alive in the minds of the voters, eventhough math does not lie. She is out and superdelgates are migrating toward her opponent. After all is said and done, she will have a great responsibility of unifying the Dems. If she wants a political future she’d better succeed in the inevitable monumental task.

  • fastheidegger

It’d give her about a %20 chance. Her basic hope is to win the Pennsylvania primary and then the superdelegates but I don’t see this happening.

  • Sugar

    Possible but not likely.

  • Julie S

Heck yes! Don’t ever under-estimate her determination. That’s what got her this far in the first place. She is simply running the most disciplined and effective campaign. She’s one of the most able politicians in America, and no one should underestimate her desire to be President and her focus.

What you need to understand is that Hillary Clinton is, quite simply, craftier and more aggressive than the rest of the field. Admirable as there aren’t many who would jump in the arena, and take what she has taken. Go Hillary!

  • homegirl

Senator Clinton will continue to fight, become the nominee and win the 2008 election. She is our next POTUS!

  • David S

Hillery doomed her campaign all by herself wnen she lied about Bosnia. No one will elect a liar that lies only too portray herself as a Hero just too further her campaign. Her statement not only indicates total stupidity but doomed the campaigh and she should step down. However Obama is no better.and you can add raceist too his liar label. If you go to his churches website at trinitychristianchurch.com you will see that despite his claims too be the candidate who will uninte the races for change his so called church does not admitt Whites or Hispanics and openly states that it favors Africans over Americans. In fact it is not a church at all but one of the most raceist Muslim Mosques in the U.S. that attempts too hide this by calling itself a church. This is the so called church that Obama has been a member of for 20 years acording too his own statements. WHAT A GROUP OF LOOSERS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS GIVEN US THISTIME.I’m voting for McCain because of this farce.

Hillary isn’t your “Typical” woman, in anthropological terms its possible she is less concilliatory that regular ones- you can make this statement since she has risen to the top of her profession. If she were to step aside there would be a lot of goodwill and she would go on to become like a female Ted Kennedy but I do not think she will conceed. This is because Obama is very weak where it matters, in attracting the right votes in the states that traditionally vote Democrat.

Robo polling shows that both democrats trail McCain by 10%+. Obama doesnt have the record or political sense to stand up to what will be a very easy attack campaign against him by Republicans. Hillary would probably fare better against such a campaign, and would probably see a larger cross over to her camp than from Hillary to Obama. Obama, if he had the political sense would conceed at this point since hes young, would benefit from the goodwill of the party, and can make another run later once he has figured out a platform.

I think that she should fight until the bitter end and that many of the Obamazoids should abandon him and support her cause.
This is why i think that they should do that .
The youthful Obamazoids have got to ask themselves why so many of the democratic power elite are now supporting the weak junior senator for Illinois ? Is it really about party unity or do they see a golden opportunity to act as his puppet masters [ala GWB] ? An opportunity that they would not have if Hillary becomes POTUS

If I may say so, ‘gaff’ is an admirably polite characterisation ElecronHM. To me, not having a polite bone in my body, Hillary’s ‘gaff’ is nothing less than disingenuous intent to deceive. A reprehensible lie.

Hillary is not an off the cuff speaker, much as she aches to emulate Obama’s masterful oratory, Hillary’s every word, gesture and nuance is rehearsed, of course, and delivered as though it had arrived in her brain as sudden inspiration, fresh, virginal, uttered even as it is created. Watch her actions, all the signs are there, more especially because she isn’t very good at it. Actually several aspects of Hillary’s behaviour and appearance convey the impression of a cleverly constructed automaton. I hope I’m wrong.

In the clear light of hindsight the Bosnian bullet saga was too detailed, too perfect in its chronological unreeling of fairytale elements, to have not been concocted. To quote from one novelist: ‘Like all true liars (she) couldn’t stick to a good story when (she) found one’. She couldn’t stop herself over-elaborating and milking it to the last drop. To be honest, as a simple soul myself, always ready to believe the best of people, I had already commended her remarkable memory for detail when the story blew apart.
She thought she was on safe ground with this one. For who would have guessed an expertly shot video would surface within hours to rain on her parade? (And what the heck kind of filing and retrieval system do they have there?).
Though from what we have been led to believe, Hillary should have foreseen the possibility. Because shouldn’t a leader be able to distinguish between what will fly and what is liable to crash in flames – and do it blindfolded (or in the inky blackness of 3am). That she was taken by surprise is confirmed by her lack of backup plan – ‘I mis-spoke’ just don’t cut it dude. It is pathetically lame. It all shows in what depressingly high regard she holds our gullibility. However, we shall certainly be wary for whatever crappe she plans to shovel our way from now on!
It could have worked so well for her; padding out her sketchy resume with: ‘aptitude for fearless Commander-in-Chief’.
Hillary took advantage of our trust. We who never took a family holiday in the Balkans, either at government expense, or at anyone else’s, we were her manipulable vote-fodder, what do we know? We were ripe and ready to shower her with McCain-type hero kudos – except our Hillary backed the wrong horse.
And no, she’s not dead yet – see, her head’s still nodding.
